Miller’s playing and writing puts her in a milieu with players such as Bill Frisell and Julian Lage, guitarists who seem to effortlessly express themselves across the fretboard as if completely unimpeded by limitations. What sets her apart is her exuberance and contagious joy, which is immediately evident and impossible to ignore when watching her play.

Molly Miller Trio was born from a place of mutual admiration and respect between three friends: Molly Miller, Jennifer Condos (Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen) and Jay Bellerose (Robert Plant, Allison Krauss, Elton John). These three musicians share a vision- bring back the instrumental. The trio plays dynamic and cathartic instrumental music that has a focus not just on the improvisation, but the arrangements and songwriting.

It’s a fun and inviting album that seems to draw its influence from the whole of the American songbook and the history of the guitar, But while Miller’s guitar is at the center of the record, the focus is really on the possibilities of writing, arranging, and collective improvisation within the trio format that Miller is so accustom to.
